Medical Evidence

A life insurance company's application form is designed to gather as much medical evidence from you as possible, when you make your application.

If you have no health problems, your application may be accepted without further medical evidence.

However, the insurance company may request a patient report from your GP, and they may also request you to undergo a medical examination.  (The medical examination can usually be done by your own GP.)

COST:

There is no cost to you for this gathering of medical evidence. The insurance company will pay the full cost of any required medical evidence; whether it is for a report from your GP or for a medical.

There is no cost to you for this gathering of medical evidence. The insurance company concerned will pay the full cost of any medical evidence, whether it is for a report from your GP or for a medical.

In order for the medical evidence to be obtained, you will have to sign a 'medical information consent' form, which authorises your GP to divulge medical information to the insurer's medical underwriters.

Your medical evidence remains confidential, and under no circumstances is any of your medical information divulged to any person, other than to the insurance company's underwriting department.
